AndreaA message from our Musical Director, Andrea

The Exeter Festival Chorus and I are delighted to be presenting Johann Sebastian Bach's magnum opus, his Mass in B minor, this summer at Exeter Cathedral. We are thrilled to be performing with Devon Baroque and five outstanding soloists.  The orchestration of this wondrous work features a wide range of historic instruments, including oboes d'amore, three natural trumpets, two bassoons and the somewhat rare corno da caccia, not to mention the gut strings and Baroque bows of the String section.  As such, solo movements and choruses are often cut in order to negotiate the financial demands of performing the work.

We kindly ask you, the public, for sponsorship in order to fully perform the work as originally intended.  The EFC is one of the premier Choral Societies in the South West and will be putting on a great performance in the most suitable of venues, Exeter Cathedral.  Your contribution will ensure that the work is performed in its entirety, with a balanced orchestra and soloists fully recognised for their contribution.
